How in the world did you find THAT nest? Terrific!
Back on April 10th, when I first saw the pair, a friend and I had taken a little hike back into the woods. They were getting frisky back then and I think we saw them copulate. I returned to the area the following week and observed the male in the same spot. I suspected something might be going on at that time. I visited again during May and all was quiet. Then last week when I entered the general area - both adult birds were actively foraging and generally being pretty noisy. It just a matter of time watching them to figure out where the nest was located. A little patience paid off in a big way! I’m being really, really careful and I’m trying not to disturb them, but needless to say, I was walking on a cloud on my way out of there!
